International Naval Journal

The journal’s mission is to foster the creation of an international discussion platform in the area of naval history. In contrast with most authoritative naval history journals, we position ourselves as, above all, one of the few scholarly journals in the area, which presupposes a number of relevant requirements for structuring a work, its metadata and bibliographical description, as well as the review procedure.

The mission is carried out by way of the following objectives:

1. Ensuring the wide circulation, among a professional audience and fleet history fans, of the findings of historical research in the area of naval history. Among other things, this objective is achieved thanks to the bilingualness of the journal, which publishes articles both in Russian and English (with metadata in both languages), as well as the fact there is open access to the journal and the transparent nature of its review procedure.

2. Ensuring the continuity of the scientific process of cognition through the publication of articles by not just prominent authors but young scholars as well.

3. Developing interdisciplinary approaches to the analysis of naval history, including with the use of numerical methods, mass source reworking, and other promising dimensions.

4. Developing international relations, with publication priority given to works that describe topical issues in the naval history of smaller fleets around the world that are little known to a wide audience. The journal also aims to limit the share of publications by authors from one specific country to no more than half of the journal’s total volume.

5. Covering events in national naval history from the standpoint of political correctness with respect to the opposing side; prohibiting the publication of nationalistic and chauvinistic content unless the issue of nationalism and chauvinism is the object of study in the paper.

The Journal publishes conference proceedings, articles and brief reports, concerning results of research in the field naval history in English and Russian languages. The article dateline is in English. The Editorial Board invites researchers to publish articles about their achievements.

This is an open access journal. The journal does not have article processing charges (APCs) and article submission charges. The journal allows the author(s) to hold the copyright and retain publishing rights without restrictions. When using the materials in non-commercial purposes the link to the organization is required. The commercial use is prohibited.
